What is Retina And Retina treatment in India = Retinaindia

The   retina   is the third and inner coat of the eye which is a light-sensitive layer of tissue. The optics of the eye create an image of the visual world on the   retina   (through the cornea and lens), which serves much the same function as the film in a camera. Light striking the retina initiates a cascade of chemical and electrical events that ultimately trigger nerve impulses. These are sent to various visual centres of the brain through the fibres of the optic nerve. For vision, these are of two types of photoreceptor cells: the rods and cones. Rods function mainly in dim light and provide black-and-white vision while cones support the perception of colour. The  retina  has ten distinct layers In adult humans. The entire retina contains about 7 million cones and 75 to 150 million rods. An image is produced by the patterned excitation of the cones and rods in the retina. The cones respond to bright light and mediate high-resolution colour vision during daylight illumination (al

What are Dry eyes? Dry eye  is a condition in which tears are unable to lubricate the cornea of your eye properly. Reason for this condition can be poor quality or inadequate quantity and quality of tears. Tears are made up of water, salts and oil. Quantity of tears It is affected by aging, diseases like Sjogren’s syndrome, scleroderma and sarcoidosis. Certain medications taken for birth control, high blood pressure and antidepressants affect the quantity of tears. Quality of tears Conditions like Blocked Meibomian glands leads to altered tear composition, due to which early evaporation of tears takes place as oil content is reduced. Eyelid problems, Blinking problem in Parkinson’s leads to dry eyes. Eye allergies, vitamin deficiencies, wind or smoke are also responsible for the early evaporation of tears. What is Double vision? - Ojas Eye Hospital

To have normal vision, the eyes apparatus, eye muscles and nerves that send signals to the brain  need to function in harmony with the brain. Any problem to these components may lead to double vision, where you see two images instead of one, also known as Diplopia.  Double vision  can be monocular or binocular. It can be horizontal (images appear side by side) or vertical (one image appears above the other). Double vision symptoms Pain and eye strain around the eyes, such as in the temples or eyebrows Droopy eyelids Misalignment of one or both eyes, such as crossed eyes or a “wandering” eye Weakness in the eyes muscles Pain with eye movements in one or both eyes Monocular Double vision Monocular Double vision is less common than Binocular double vision and occurs due to a problem in one eye only. In  Monocular Diplopia , one of the images is very clear, while the other is faded or washed out. Causes Cataract  – With age, like other degenerative changes in the body, eyes also undergo ce

Eyestrain Treatment, Causes, Symptoms, Relief & Prevention

Eyestrain is also known as Asthenopia. Having eyestrain is very common and is not considered as a serious condition. It is more like a symptom than the disease itself.   Eyestrain   does not cause eye injury or any permanent damage. It is rather an annoying condition. Eye Anatomy Eye is a complex and vital organ of the body and is one of the five senses. Main components of the eye are Cornea, Iris, Pupil, Lens and Retina. Just like any other part of the body, eyes also have blood and nerve supply and is supported by group of eye muscles. Muscles of the eye Extra ocular muscles are located outside the eye and hold the eyeball within the orbit. They are responsible for eyeball and eyelid movement. They are Levator palpebrae superioris Superior rectus Inferior rectus Medial rectus Lateral rectus  Inferior oblique Superior oblique How do my eyes get tired (Eyestrain)? Eyes are supported by muscles and like any other muscle of the body, after extended use, muscle fatigue leads to strained e
